“Alis grave nil”

Based on the Byzantine Empire, artworks of Amie Dicke, photographs by Levi van Veluw and insect wings, this fashion fairytale is dominated by a Dark Nature Feeling. The heroine is dressed in beautiful rags: textured jackets, and reworkings that resemble a wild and torn spirit. Before you know it, descending from her dark tree entangled habitat the heroine becomes a byzantine princess with long chiffon trains suggesting insect wings. Remnants of a decadent Byzantine world is felt in embellishments. Contrasts in fabric suggest fragility against something sharp. Golden lace, Cut out leather onto tulle, shredded mohair coming together to shape a faux fur collar are just some examples. The heroine however remains youth-spirited, with mannish tailoring, high-waisted shorts and short jumpsuits.
