Nadir Tejani studies the process of personal self-labeling and de-individualization for Autumn Winter 2012.
Breaking down the concept of stereotypes to its absolute core, a new dogmatic code is reassembled from blank and untouched conventional shapes.
The garment becomes the portrait of a geometrical exercise of constructing a product from one pattern only – a rectangle.
The skeleton of the shape is built on a repetition of the same rectangle, cut in different ways and positioned according to the human anatomy.
The silhouettes embrace the body and draw from a kimono aesthetic, respecting the nature of the fabric. Cuts are straight and folded, universally adapted to the figure through built-in belts.
Three interchangeable stages of layering are assumed by three different materials.
Lightweight pieces are made of EtaProof®, a sustainable 100% Cotton performance material made from the world’s finest cotton fibres. EtaProof® is a dense all-weather fabric, breathable yet windproof and hydrophobic; its technical properties are sustained over the years owing to its natural composition.
Towel Terry and Merino Wool Fleece explore soft and fleecy textures in lightly padded shapes. Depth, warmth and comfort are provided to outerwear pieces that complement the ease of wear of lighter garments.
The result summarizes individual pieces of varying length and construction that balance each other, and when deconstructed become as anonymous as its patterns.
