Primitive presents exhibition of Tokyo based underground
designer Hachi Shiroshita’s label – Balmung
Born in Fukuoka in 1985. After studying computerized
control engineering in high school and clothes-making
at a dressmaking school, he started making clothes
under his own label “BALMUNG” and began selling
them at select shops in Tokyo.His various experiences
as a brand assistant, and buyer/director in Tokyo street
party scenes such as VANITY, MEAT, fancyHIM, and
shop CANDY have influenced his designs.
He held the open-air exhibition “DINNER” in 2008 with
friends. In 2010 he released at exhibitions in Paris. He
made clothes for Lady Gaga when she visited Japan
and provided clothing to NY artist TERENCE KOH,
and Tokyo street icon Mademoiselle Yulia. He also
created clothes, interior and window displays for the
OPENING CEREMONY big Halloween party in Shibuya.
His creations are being sold at the limited time shop
JOYCE in Hong Kong in 2011.

JOSEPH NIGOGHOSSIAN
AT PRIMITIVE BOUTIQUE
London Based designer Joseph Nigoghossian has a reputation as both an extraordinary pattern cutter and visionary textile designer. Since graduating from Central St Martins in 2006 Joseph has worked with designers such as Marios Schwab, Louise Goldin and menswear designer Christopher Shannon.
Following the success of last season’s installation at Primitive Boutique, Joseph returns with another innovative moving image collection for Spring/Summer 2012, this time turning his focus to womenswear. Embracing the nascent relationship between fashion and new media, Joseph incorporates rudimentary animation techniques with traditional hand painted motifs to create a series of five stunning moving image pieces.
